Course overview

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators. Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.
Entry Requirements
Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. You are required to provide your results so that we can confirm they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
1. Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
2. Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
3. successful completion of an English Placement Test

Must have access to a computer (with Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word and a web browser)
Must have access to Internet
2 GB or more of RAM (8 GB recommended)
Hard disk space of 4 GB or more of available hard-disk space for 64-bit installation; additional free space required during installation.

Additional Requirements

Before commencing work placement, learners are required to provide:
A Federal Police Check (name check), not older than 3 months
Evidence of up-to-date vaccination as required

Training and Assessment Information

Training and Assessment Information

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting, as well as through structured self-study and in the workplace. All classroom-based training will take place at ACVET’s training facilities. The timetable for this course will be advised in your Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You are required to attend classes for 14 hours of classroom training per week and complete structured self-study of 6 hours per week for 40 study weeks (4 terms of 10 weeks each). Holiday breaks are as indicated in your timetable. Class sessions include a mix of theory and practical activities with a focus on creating a real-life workplace. You will also be required to complete 280 hours of work placement, and we will assist you to find a work placement or you can find your own. This placement is to be completed during Weeks 11 of each term You must complete 30 hours of work placement during each block and your trainer and assessor will visit you during this time to discuss any issues concerning the placement or questions you have, as well as to conduct observations for assessment purposes. In addition to classroom based learning and structured self-study, you will also need to complete approximately 5 hours of additional, unsupervised study per week including research for assessments, completing assessments outside of class/work placement time and general reading. You will also need to complete assessments for this course which may include:

At the beginning of each unit, your trainer and assessor will outline the assessment tasks that must be completed. Your classes will be conducted in modern classrooms and you will be able to access Wi-Fi. There are also areas for you to relax, as well as conduct additional study. You will be provided with learning and assessment materials that will be used to develop your knowledge and understanding. You will also be provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help achieve competency.

What is the application process?
Step 1: Fill out ACVET online application form You can complete the application form online by going on the link above. Please note that you will need the following to submit your application:

- Scanned copy of your passport
- Certified Academic Transcript and qualification from Year 12 or Above (translated into English)
- Resume (if available)

Step 2: Receive and Accept your Offer Letter. Return the signed Offer Letter and Student Agreement to ACVET.

Step 3: Participate in a course interview with one of ACVET’s representatives.

Step 4: Make your initial fees deposit.

Step 5: Complete ACVET English Placement Test (only applicable if valid English proficiency evidence not provided).

Step 6: Receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) Once you have completed all the steps, our team will review your application and then you will receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
How much time does it take to process my application?
Once your application has been approved by ACVET’s admissions team, you will receive an Offer Letter detailing your course, tuition fees and all relevant terms and conditions. Before you accept, check all the conditions on your offer letter.

Once you accept your Offer Letter and make initial deposit payment as outlined in your Offer Letter, you will be issued your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Please remember that you will need this Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) document to apply for your student visa.
