Course overview
This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 200 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. You are required to provide your results so that we can confirm they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
1. Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
2. Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
3. successful completion of an English Placement Test

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting, as well as through structured self-study and in the workplace. All classroom-based training will take place at ACVET’s training facilities. The timetable for this course will be advised in your Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You are required to attend classes for 14 hours of classroom training per week and complete structured self-study of 6 hours per week for 80 study weeks (8 terms of 10 weeks each). Holiday breaks are as indicated in your timetable. Class sessions include a mix of theory and practical activities with a focus on creating a real-life workplace. You will also be required to complete 100 hours of work placement and we will assist you to find a work placement or you can find your own. This placement is to be completed during Weeks 11 of terms 2, 4, 6, and 8. You must complete 25 hours of work placement during each block and your trainer and assessor will visit you during this time to discuss any issues concerning the placement or questions you have, as well as to conduct observations for assessment purposes. In addition to classroom-based study, structured self-study and the work placement, you will also need to complete approximately 5 hours of additional, unsupervised study per week including research for assessments, completing assessments outside of class/work placement time and general reading. Once you accept your Offer Letter and make initial deposit payment as outlined in your Offer Letter, you will be issued your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Please remember that you will need this Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) document to apply for your student visa.
