Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. You are required to provide your results so that we can confirm they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
1. Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
2. Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
3. successful completion of an English Placement Test

Training and Assessment Information
This course is delivered through a blend of face-to-face, online, and structured self-paced learning, giving you the flexibility to develop both your theoretical understanding and practical carpentry skills. Classroom-based training is conducted at ACVET’s modern facilities, with online sessions delivered via Microsoft Teams to provide additional support and knowledge-building.
The course timetable, including classroom and online sessions, will be provided in your Offer Letter and confirmed during orientation. You are expected to attend 16 hours of classroom learning per week, participate in 4 hours of online learning, and complete 8 hours of structured self-study weekly over the course of the program.
In addition to classroom and online learning, you’ll be required to engage in approximately 5 additional hours of independent study each week, including preparing for assessments, conducting research, and reviewing course materials. Assessments for this qualification may include written questions, practical projects, presentations, role-plays, and observations, ensuring you can demonstrate your skills in real-world carpentry scenarios.

A simulated training environment is also provided, enabling you to practice essential skills before applying them in the workplace. This includes access to industry-standard equipment, participation in simulated workplace activities, and engagement with real-life scenarios designed to develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.
All assessments are conducted in accordance with the Principles of Assessment (validity, reliability, flexibility, fairness) and the Rules of Evidence (authenticity, currency, sufficiency, validity). You are required to submit your assessments with a signed cover sheet declaring the authenticity of your work.
