This nationally recognised qualification reflects the role of educators working in early childhood education and care settings across Australia. It is designed for domestic students seeking to work in regulated children’s education and care services under the National Quality Framework.
Students will support children’s wellbeing, learning, and development within approved learning frameworks such as the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The course equips learners with practical skills and knowledge to work effectively using established policies, procedures, and industry standards.
Graduates may work independently or under supervision, depending on the service context. To meet course requirements, students must complete a minimum of 160 hours of mandatory work placement in an approved Australian early childhood education and care setting, as outlined in the assessment requirements of the units of competency.
Students will support children’s wellbeing, learning, and development within approved learning frameworks such as the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Before commencing work placement, learners are required to provide:
Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification in Australia
Participate in a pre-training review or course entry interview to assess suitability and individual learning needs
Demonstrate sufficient English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to successfully complete the course

A computer or laptop with standard software (e.g. Microsoft Word, PDF reader, and web browser)
Reliable internet access
Basic digital literacy skills to complete online learning and assessments
Additional Requirements (Work Placement)
Prior to commencing mandatory work placement, students must provide:
A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for the relevant Australian state or territory
A National Police Check (if required by the placement provider)
Evidence of up-to-date vaccinations, as required by the workplace or state regulations
To be awarded the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, competency must be achieved with total of 17 units.
